sad

Pushbike

There wasn’t time,
I’d waited,
I’d hoped
I’d finally got the chance,
But I didn’t get to that.
I watched him smile,
Get yo know,
His child’s laughter made my days.
I just hate no having taught him,
I just hate no having had the time.
It went too fast,
I won’t be there to teach him,
To tell him it’s okay,
To stand back and watch him go,
Worry myself as he wavers,
Cheering, ‘you’re doing it son.’
I won’t be there for the moment the little wheels come off
I won’t be there to see his smile when he does it,
I won’t be there to teach my son to ride a push bike.
I won’t be there yo watch him with pride.
Eyes filling with tears as he paddles on.
