Rust

Our breaths are unified,
Our limbs wound too tight,
There is silence.
Deafening fear of the end,
Waiting for the moment to break,
A broken goodbye.
The kind of jagged reality to make you cringe,
This is not just it,
This is the humbling moment where you appreciate the past.
So much friction,
Emotions drying like wax on a rock,
The ugly scar that breaks your heart,
It’s the time where anything simple needs so much attention.
Authenticity becomes a childish wish,
Words must be polished,
The projection of emotions is a calculated ordeal,
A rusty end.
Oxidised from the inside the moment the screeching began,
We fall,
Hanging in halves and dissolute.
